Still fun. 2015 Red Knot 'plate' P111, of the Coastal Birds Postcard Stamp Series, FDoI 20150601, cds New York City 20151215, with one of those shpritzy cancels that I think ... oh, never mind, I'll spare you.
Cheers,

CDS = Circular Date Stamp
That's the round postmark with city and state in it, along with the date
Phil B.:
I collect those, too! Lots of fun!
David
CDS = Circular Date Stamp though, frankly, I usually corrupt it to City Date Stamp (in my head).
Okay, the penny dropped.
Anglophile knows "what's a CDS".
He is questioning the application of that term to sphritzy linear text.
Good question.

In the 1980s many of us used to check the incoming mail for stamps with plate numbers. In fact i received one recently from a fellow Stamorama person..i had to soak it off..then i found two stockcards of PNC's in a U.S. stock book. On these 25 cent Yosemites the numbers will be hard to see from my scan..#2 one stamp #4 2 stamps #5 2 stamps #7 three stamps #8 one,#9 6 stamps,#10 2 stamps #11 2 stamps #13 2 stamps,#14 3 stamps.
