The stamps are mounted on an old Mystic approval sheet. They are short sets of the Ferruzzi issue - all 12 Aegean Islands and Castellorizo plus a nice little printed story about them. These are fresh with the stamps uniformly curled, no sticking, no bulging, just like the day it was sent out from Mystic. Hinges may be peelable but why ? I like it just the way it is.
Whenever it was sent out the retail price was $1.25. Times change - 2012 Scott is $208.

Carol, I too look for old approval sheets that still have stamps on them. Sometimes I mount them in my album, sheet and all. It all becomes part of the collection. With my Scott International albums, there is a lot of free space for these small sheets!

What a great thread...did the fascists flood the market hoping to make money from stamp collectors ? Surely there was no need to overprint so many of the Ferrucci sets and other stamps for the few inhabitants of those islands. Would like to see postally used copies.

No idea of total printing but they were obviously cheap if Mystic could mount them and sell them for a little over 2 cents each.
Probably not a lot of postally used although Scott only assigns a value of approximately 2X the mint price ($7 each vs $3.50 each for the Aegean Islands). On cover cv starts at $100 and up. Complete sets on an overfranked cover are around $350 depending on the island.

Don't overlook old shoebox and cigar box lots. Many dealers pull out of few better items and quick turn the box. I found this towards the bottom of a box which I bought for some interesting 1950's European sets in glassines that had been overlooked. I found this at the bottom of the box.
