Hello all - My collection actually started on my 1st birthday when a friend of the family gave me a set of stamps from my birth year (eons ago). I started at 6 or 7 removing stamps from envelopes and "begging" stamps from relatives. As I moved into high school and college my stamp collecting slowed down - and it wasn't until my 30s that I started collecting again (I discovered postcards about then, also - and now have about 65,000). I was making memory boxes with old us stamps and needing more I saw an ad by Mystic Stamp for 100 used US stamps for $1, so I sent off for them. In return I got my stamps but also a catalog and I was "off and running" Although the US is my primary collection I also seriously collect England, Ireland, Canada, Australia, & New Zealand (by seriously I mean I buy stamps from these countries). I also have a fairly large world wide collection - some were from my grade school collection, most are gotten when I've bought large lots or collections.

re: Hello from the Nutmeg State

Ladyk1,

Welcome aboard! I collect and savor Great Britain and Australia. And from time to time stamps that catch my fancy, like K.U.T. and Mauritius, and Hong Kong. And I still have my childhood world wide/US collection that I fiddle with from time to time.

Enjoy!
Eric

Welcome, ladyk1, from soggy Florida. I share an interest in the stamps of IRELAND, and so do a few others here. British Europe week will be coming up soon in the Auctions and Approvals, so look out for announcements on the Discussion Board.

And.. enjoy yourself!!

Ah, ladyk1 ... I was returning to collecting stamps, minding my own business, when I fell down the postcard rabbit hole. Welcome to deRama.

My wife Penny said the Nutmeg State is Connecticut. Is that correct? I love nutmeg. Especially when liberally applied to an eggnog dosed liberally with rum. I guess I am a liberal come to think.
