My wife told me to pick up the phone and it was Ken Herst ...most of you know about Shrub Oaks second most famous son Herman (Pat) Herst. He is going to e mail me information about a book he is publishing ...his Dad wrote the book in 1994 and it laid in a closet shelf for quite a while until found. He wants to get the word out to stamp collectors and is going to forward the information to me. When i get the information i will put it out here and he wants to get in contact with Bob Gioia as well. phil

I was just thinking...i have no stake in the game..the guy just called me...the information he sends will be a promotion for the book. Should i just forward the information to those that may be interested rather than post it here ?

I dunno Phil! Herman Herst was an icon in the hobby and finding a new book he wrote long after his death is the stamp equivalent of finding a new Beatles album! I'd help his son spread the word.

Hi Philip, Ken here. So glad we just had a chance to chat, and looking forward
to hearing from your Shrub Oak collector friend. Really appreciate any exposure
you can provide for my father's latest (and presumably) last book. As I wrote
in the forward, his "last words". Below is a press release that was actually
written for the British press, but it will give you the background about how
this book came to be:
