Today I received an early lot of Argentina. In the lot was a stamp that at first glance looked like a #46 or 54. Upon closer inspection it is neither but varies in almost every detail. I have never seen this stamp and I can find nothing in Scott referring to it.
Below is a #46 and a #54 followed by the stamp in question. Any ideas?

The right stamp is an unadopted proof, although I've seen it referred to as an essay on more than one occasion. I answered this question before elsewhere. Let me see if I can find the link to the original information source (not the original thread, as that was on another forum).

OK, found the original information link for 12c unadopted proof. You will need to scroll down quite a bit -- currently it is the 6th stamp pic counting from the top.
