I had requested copies of pre independence 1945-1949 postal history of Indonesia from the APS library...yesterday i received an e mail that they had printed up 57 color pages and i was able to view the scans. It will be great reference material and assist me in determining which items to bid on from the great variety of material available on the internet. Total cost to me ...$14.00 for the scans and $4.00 shipping. Thank You APS !Image Not Found

Thanks for sharing this, Phil. Ever since the first time I traveled there, Indonesia has fascinated me, and now I finally am starting to put my Indonesian collection together. I am glad that Scott finally included the pre-independence issues in their catalog.

Its a fascinating area...the Dutch had their mail system operating right up until the end as i can tell by postmarks on covers...probably because they controlled the larger cities and the people fighting for independence had their mail system. The Japanese who were so brutal in other parts of Asia got along better with the Indonesians and encouraged them to drive the colonials out.
