Greatest Canadian of all time!
No Phil, actually it is a pop singer who is the greatest Canadian ever: Justin Bieber
In order to show how greatly we esteem the United States, we Canadians are pleased to have given this "great Canadian" to the United States. We are also pleased to see how popular he has become in his new country, and will happily raise many beers in wishing him a long, long, long and happy stay there.
Phil.... Come on brother... THAT'S the joke!
Hey Dennis.... I guess we'll have to tolerate Bieber..... after all, our friends from the north did send RUSH!
Happy 150th to the country that I most like to visit. Every time I have been to your country (many times, especially when I was living in New York), I have always felt welcome. I'm glad that you're our neighbor!
Michael,
Most all Canadians I know feel the same about our great neighbor to the South.
Without USA, Canada would be a very different place, if it was Canada at all.
Wishing y'all a very happy 4th!
Alex Trebek has been selected as a Canada sesquentenial ambassador for Canada's independence. He's on now wearing a special sweater. Check it out!
In my model car hobby I have a ton of friends from Canada. We ride one another mercilessly on our message boards such as a bogus magazine covers with pricing USA $4.95 Canada $65.50.
At least 50 Canadians make their way to our big show in New Jersey every year (we make fun that Canada is empty that weekend!) when we get to be friends face to face. It's great fun and there is really no difference between us all!
And we came close to giving you Bieber back. Don't push it! He acts up one more time...
A happy 150 to everyone!
We are ALL 'NORTH AMERICANS' after all.....!
Happy Birthday Canada......Glad to be a Canadian!!!!!!!!Thankyou to all who help keep this beautiful country safe!!!!
From the Nation's Capital, via the Dominion City Brewing Company of Ottawa, Ontario....
Happy Dominion Day

David,
Getting an early start? Love this dude... I googled Dominion City Brewing Co. Its a "tickets only" event. They take it seriously up there! Sounds like a good time.
I believe that Canada has the oldest Retail Company, namely:-
The Company of Adventurers and Englishmen Trading into Hudsons Bay, was founded in 1669.
Yes indeed, Happy Canada Day.
Where's the Fergie Jenkins love?

I found out today that what is readily recognized as the flag of Canada was not adopted until 1965.
Prior to that it was the Union Jack.
There were two attempts to change the flag previously in the first half of the 20th Century but the Union Jack remained the popular choice.
Smauggi,
I don't think that is a Union Jack, The thinner red stripes are not in the correct position. Our Canadian neighbors can correct me if I am wrong.
Vince
It is a bit of a stylized version of the Union Jack to be sure. A more proper example would the following.
My vote for greatest Canadian export (to my beloved Red Wings) would be Gordie Howe.
I believe it was on the Dick Cavett show where he explained why he wore a cup and not a helmet by saying that he could get someone else to do his thinking for him!
Lars
This was the Canadian flag from 1921-1965. From 1921-1957, the maple leaves along the bottom of the shield were green.
I much prefer the Maple Leaf Flag.

In the US, the state flag of Hawaii contains the Union Jack in the upper left corner.
