Sorry but I made a mistake in my post. It should have read 99% complete not 99.9%. Still 99% has been my hopeful goal for most countries. I can probably obtain another 6 GB stamps
but finding them correctly identified is easier said then done. I knew going in that trying get even as far as I have, was a pretty crazy endeavor and I'll have to admit I have surprised myself to the point I have reached. There are still some stamps that I can afford to add to the collection but I'm definitely on the downside and will probably have to think about selling it off in the next few years. However that would be very difficult for many reasons. The only sure thing is that I will not be collecting phonecards or pokemons
Thanks for your example Mitch, wish i had more focus..i pick here and there from the vast garden of stamps and covers and yet consider myself a serious collector.
Today, I won the stamp that was at the top of my needlist. It is Great Britain #6 and is shown below. In another lot I won 4 other G.B. stamps I needed to complete my 1st and second page and bring my GB collection up to 99.9% complete thru year 2000.
Since most all of my European countries are around 99% complete as well as S.A. thru the years I collect, I feel I'm reaching my goal as far as my collection goes. I'm pretty much down to working on colonies and some U.S back of book. I'll of course continue to search for some affordable straglers WW but I'm pretty much content at this point.
