As a Packers fan who thinks that the Patriots have won far too many titles, and who cannot abide any success on the part of the Vikings, I'll be rooting for a Philadephia - Jacksonville final.

Since Blake Bortles is a UCF (The REAL National College FB Champions this year BTW) grad and is from not too far from where I live in East Orlando, I have been rooting
for Jacksonville.

It took me a while to figure this out too, and I still don't really get it. Does this mean there are actually people outside the USA who understand and like American Football?

Every year there are a couple of NFL regular season games played in London!

Well, that's sort of my point: where is it now? They tried to push it in the 1990s, when there was a Dutch team, the Amsterdam Admirals and games were shown on tv, but it was not a big hit, to put it mildly.
"Every year there are a couple of NFL regular season games played in London!"
So those who have called Great Britain the 51st state are right after all. And perhaps it's for the better, now that you Brits intend to leave Europe. :-)
Who needs rugby when you can have up to 4 hours of men in full body armour clashing against each other?

Don't think I could even afford the hub cap off that supercar. Did have friend in the 60's who owned an E type, his girlfriend had the door open when she backed it into the garage. He was a little miffed at the damage.

As for being the 51st State I shall treat that remark with the complete and utter contempt it deserves. I have been insulted in better places by better folks (Hee Hee Hee)!!!

They were doing well last year. Bairstow and Ali, to name just two, couldn't cope with the bowlers. What a disappointment for everyone.
I have always maintained that you should never make your best batsman/bowler captain.
Its like in business you never make your best salesman manager. Reward him/her with pay rises yes but heap responsibility on them and your sales will decline!!

Here in the 'burbs west of Philly, the locals are worked up into a frenzy. My wife and I would usually go to the local pub for a bite and a pint on Friday evening, but decided to stay home and eat left over Chinese food instead of dealing with all the noise.
I'm an American who never has had any interest in football. I grew up outside the USA so I wasn't exposed to it as a kid. So I feel the same way you do!

You can blame some of the games dragging on due to the timeouts often needed for television and they way they handle penalties (challenges to calls). Sports has become such a big money event it has hurt the game itself. I cannot see why so many people get so worked up over games - a worldwide statement.
Now that the medical industry has revealed the brain damage due to repeated hits (of course, we knew that for boxing) I suspect this will eventually change the nature of a contact sport. It is funny there are more sports for physical activities rather than mental ones.

AH WELL!!!
It was not meant to be. But they done great to get there.
Who would have thought so at the start of the season.
We were to get both Championship games on the Sky Sports Mix tv channel. Guess what?
The (expletive deleted) changed their minds and didn't show the Vikings v Eagles game.
The dirty rotten scoundrels!!!!!
Hopefully I'll see the short highlights tomorrow night. (I've avoided the result so far)

Ian, I think the game went quite well with the Vikings getting two tumps in the first under and managing to get a cradge with a good nurdle finish in the second period of the first over.
The Eagles responded with a wonderfully executed birdie in the third and managed a full spond in response to the Vikings having brought on an extra longboat and two bloodaxes.
The final result after a tense fifth quarter was an early declaration of intent, with the final score of three gleedles to five . The referees in view of VAR declaring an early finish, as the case of Newcastle Brown in the dressing room was getting warm.
The spectators were actually on the pitch at the interval playing a game of toss across, which proved more exciting than the real game.
Hope this does not enjoy your watching the match later.

Professor Stanley Unwin, now there is a blast from the past, very clever at speaking words backwards.
No, I just grew up (my wife doubts that statement) with British Radio shows in the 50's-70's. Goon shows, Round the Horne, Troutbridge, Kenneth Williams, Jimmy Edwards (Oh Ron, yes Eff) and the whole looney set, No wonder I never made it as prime minister.

As far as the Superbowl is concerned I normally record it and watch it the following morning. (It normally finishes around 3am over here).
Thank goodness for the fast forward button on the remote.

Hey Ian, my wife and I were eating dinner out and the game was on and we watched it for an hour or so and went to bed. I was shocked when I woke up and saw the highlights. I kind of lost interest after the Braves were eliminated.
I saw on TV that there are quite a few loyal Jags fans in Britain. We were cracking up because they even know to say "Duuuuuuval!!". From their performance today they shouldn't have hit the London club scene so hard.
