Reading the catalog i first thought that these were color variations of #32 of 1869/70. But reading on i see #43 listed as gray green. Perhaps there is a difference in the frame..the perfs are 15 for the 32 and 14 for 43.Image Not Found

Below is my page that shows both types. There are obviously several different shades but the true difference is in the perforations. I do not think there is any difference in the borders however the hair in your No.43 is much more coarse than your No.32 or any of mine which seems odd.

On first glance, I thought the stamp on the right was a forgery. But, as I look carefully at the minute features of the design, I can see no significant differences between the two stamps. If the one on the right is a forgery, it is very meticulous work, indeed! Could the one on the right just be an under-inked variety?

(I get lots of practice distinguishing Spiro forgeries among Caribbean issues, an area in which he was very prolific!)

I love seeing these varieties and having an opportunity to compare them!

A couple of years ago we did have a thread listing ages,
and Richaard, of fond memory, had me beat by a few months,
however Bob ********, who uses his birth date as his club
nom de plume" is some 18 months older. I am now 79,
and plan to live forever or die trying.

It is strange! But then life, the world, everything is strange! Several years ago my stamp club (the British Columbia Philatelic Society) invited a specialist in forgeries to speak to us. He made it clear that there is no type of philatelic item — stamps, covers, postmarks — that someone, somewhere, at some time hasn't forged. Unfortunately, it's not enough to say "Buyer beware," because information about forgeries is so difficult to come by, especially for inexpensive stamps and covers.
