Is anyone else having this trouble? I state FREE Shipping; E-bay states "+ Shipping (you pay)". I state $5.00 total purchase FREE Shipping; E-bay states "FREE Standard Shipping" on Orders costing less than $5.00. This caused a rather big problem with a customer yesterday who thought I WAS entering incorrect info.

Ebay does pretty much as they please. That is why I list very few items there. When I list something with a Buy it Now price, I disable the Best Offer. Most of the time Ebay will then go ahead and activate the Best Offer so I get some ridiculous offers.

re: Incorrect Shipping info. being entered by E-bay.

Where, exactly, are you "stating" free shipping?

The assignment of shipping costs, both domestic and international, are determined for each item at the time of listing in the appropriate fields under "Shipping Details". Both type of service and cost.

There is no provision for providing free shipping over a certain threshold. The only way of accomplishing this (that I am aware of) is to assign a shipping cost to each item and then remove the shipping cost from the invoice before the buyer pays (assuming that he gives you time to do this). Include this information in the item description and hope your buyers actually read the description.

There is a way to assign a shipping cost and allow "Additional items free" or at a reduced rate. This is set up in your Account profile by establishing "Combined Payments and Shipping Discounts", which are then invoked in the individual listing. This option appears in the individual item "Sell your Item" form only if you have set up such combined shipping rules in your account. Again, I see no provision for including the total purchase amount in the calculation. You will find it under:
Site Preferences >> Shipping preferences >> Offer combined payments and shipping >> Edit >> Flat Shipping Rule >> Create

Hope that helps.

Roy

re: Incorrect Shipping info. being entered by E-bay.

Good Morning Roy!

I've been entering detailed Shipping info. one line below the "item description". The person that took me to task yesterday later apologized for coming on so strong and stated that he just saw the asking price and Bid on the Item without concerning himself with any detail(s).

Regards,

Bob Armstrong

re: Incorrect Shipping info. being entered by E-bay.

I guess I am lucky. I don't have problems with shipping prices on eBay. I look over the form for accuracy and state shipping price depending on the item listed. That price appears. If I want to make the item free shipping, I click the box that states free shipping. Free shipping appears.
I do have problems with multiple sellers who either don't read the form regarding shipping and or combined shipping or have issues with comprehension with online forms. Most confess that they don't read the form completely and more or less use the hunch system. When employed (the hunch system), the result is I have to buy, say 6 items all with $3.50 each for shipping and wait for seller who promises to refund via the Paypal for excess shipping x five or so. Oh the humanity.

re: Incorrect Shipping info. being entered by E-bay.

In fairness I have called the help line more twice to figure out how to set up "first item $1.50 - all other items free" and they walked me through the set up both times and the results were the same - I had to go back and manually adjust the invoices except for the guys who pay for each item as won where I had to go back and refund (each item - all 8 of them because they were all 99 cent items)...

This was three or four years ago - if it is now intuitive great but at that point in time it wasn't and the customer service reps were pretty clueless as well.

When that happens are you charged a separate Paypal transaction fee for each item? Instead of one Paypal transaction fee for several items on one invoice?

Yes you are ..... it's only happened a couple of times but it gets your attention.... you win some, you lose some. I just don't do low starting prices on ebay anymore - it is not like the old days when most surprises were good !!
