The George Washington Bicentennial was in 1932 and was a big event in the United States. There was a Bicentennial commission, the set of stamps, and the Washington quarter we still use today debuted as part of the celebrations.
There were celebrations across the country. The Bicentennial commission even produced a guidebook for local groups wishing to host an event.
And there were covers! I started collecting these as a young guy. I have a load of stuff, including George Washington birthday covers (Feb 22) from across the country, especially from significant locations as well as any town named Washington. And the event covers were issued all year long. I probably have 100 different event covers. Many years ago I thought I had them all, but through the magic of the Internet I'm still finding new examples today. I have it all chronologically in an album now.
Does anyone else here collect these? And is there a catalog, website or other that has an accounting of what was issued? I am thinking of scanning all my covers and putting up a website if it doesn't already exist. Thoughts?

Such a site would serve as a reference to other collectors, but there would be a multiple issues to be resolved to keep the site from becoming an unorganized accumulation of covers. Issues that I have thought of are below.
Is it general usage of the stamp series you are interested in, or is strictly philatelic usage of the stamp series that motivates your collection? Philatelic usage only would limit the scope of what might be included on the site.
How would you arrange your postings - FDCs & event covers by cachet maker, chronologically by posting dates, geographically by events, types of usage if non-philatelic items included?
Would you include airmail uses, foreign destinations usage, special uses such as special delivery, insured mail, would covers with up-rating non-Bicentennial franking be included?
Would you allow others to post images of covers that you do not have? If so, where would they be placed, a special grouping or integrated with you postings.
A web site sounds like a good idea to me, but a lot of work to start and maintain.

If you did create a website of covers you would design it using metadata so you could view any way you want on demand. It would be a searchable database. A query determines what is shown.

Wow! We wanna complicate this real fast! No, it's going to be a pretty basic site.
I believe that the stamps and their anomalies probably have been well documented. Planty already lists all the first day cover cachets.
My main interest is the national event, and the celebrations that happened all year long around the country. In that light, I am focusing on the special event covers, like the ones I showed in my opening post. There are tons of them. And when I was younger I thought I had them all. But with the Internet, I keep finding ones I have never seen before, as well as varieties of ones I already have, like a different color cachet.
My site will be an attempt to catalog all of these event covers. I can do simple html, and often find it easier to go into it and edit the code rather than play with an app.
Back when I started collecting these as a teen, I borrowed the entire 1932 year of Linn's from the APS Library. They had it bound into a book. I went through it looking for announcements of event covers. I am thinking of borrowing that again, this time I can scan the news items and include them with the covers.

I was writing up a few stamp dealer's covers for my collection and came across this one from Y. Souren and his Washington Bicentennial Stamps Distribution Service. The cover is a little plain Jane, but the enclosure was something else.
The enclosure is a large one, 375 mm high by 260 mm wide. I had to scan it in two parts. I am posting it here to ask if you, as a collector of Washington Bicentennial covers, have ever see one of the huge combination cover collections offered for sale, (693 covers with all possible stamp combinations) or if you know if any of those sold are still intact? See paragraph 5 of the ad marked with the small red arrow.
With all the stamp usage combinations possible, this must be an enormous collecting field, although, perhaps, not as popular now as it was in the 1930s.

I always enjoy seeing the old ads...they issued a lot of Washington Bicentennial covers in Newburgh N.Y. Old George had several Hq. around the Beacon,Newburgh area.

I am familiar with the dealer Y Souren, as a seller of George Washington Bicentennial covers. See my page above, a cover similar to yours with mine being a first day cover mailed back to the dealer.
I was not familiar with the sales flyer nor the offer of all of those covers for $459. I do know that people went hog wild with their cover collecting back then! There were hundreds of George Washington Bicentennial events across the country, many with corresponding cachets and covers. I have a good number of them! And as I have acquired large cover lots, I found collectors were servicing multiple covers per event, in those many different combinations as listed on the flyer. I saw little sense of having 12 covers for each event, each bearing a different stamp, nor the same in blocks or combination of stamps. I have merely kept one clean cover for each different event.
And there were a lot of covers with all 12 stamps on them, a Washington Birthday cover with them all is part of the page I've included here.

I have been working on a catalog of the 1932 
Bicentennial event covers. I would love to hear from anyone who has a collection so we can share information. A listing was done in 1934-35, but had virtually no illustrations of the covers. I believe there were nine images of cachets for about 350 listings.
