i was looking at the two stamps identified as Natal 71...the one on the left looks normal, i don't know what to make of the one on the right...at first i thought it was just a blemish and was going to deep six it...then i thought it might be the watermark..with a little imagination it could be something resembling an animal..it looks almost like 3d imposed on the stamp !Image Not Found

The one on the right looks like it spent some time in the sun. It could be bleached out. The mark - is it a scrape? I can't tell from the picture, you will have to look at it and let us know.

re: Natal #71 one ordinary and one ?

The stamp on the right is probably SG70 6d bright reddish violet, watermark Crown over CC issued 1874.
The stamp on the left is probably SG103 6d mauve, watermark Crown over CA issued 1882.
Best would be to check the watermarks to confirm.

Either way, I would guess that the righthand stamp has suffered some damage. Perhaps a scrape as suggested by kgvistamps.
