and Clevelanders might remember him from his dirge on the Edmund Fitzgerald

Of course one of the biggest selling artists on 8-track was the one, the only, the superb NEIL DIAMOND.
"Sweet Caroline" is now a Cricket Anthem.

""Sweet Caroline""
AAAHHHH Memories
Huddled under the bedclothes with the tranny on low so your parents couldn't hear.
Those pirate radio stations were awesome!
"the tranny on low"
The younger generation stream everything or have their playlists on tap.
They are missing the "thrill" of expectation of what record was going to play next on the radio. Whether it was going to be Elvis, the Turtles, the Byrds, the Rolling Stones or some awful tune that your mother liked!!
Ah, you mean Hernandos hideaway or Que sera. Or maybe even Cool water by Frankie Laine, not that I remember them of course.
You got it on one!!
Hey Vic!
I liked those songs, and I'm probably younger than you!
Mule train, mule train...hippity hopping over hills and plains ! My father had a radio in the 1939 ford tudor ! The SUVs of today had nothing on that car...carrying people, cargo, whatever..it had to run no matter what.
Think everyone is younger than me, or is it just my bones that feel old. Oh you rascal you, you've got me crying again,so I'm just off down sunnyside lane, but I guess easy come, easy go.
How about Al Jolson's "To To Tootsie Goodbye"
love his music - have all the old lp's and all cd's - some are hard to find now: like old dans's records; personally i thought his earliest tho a bit derivative was his best...
I was drawn to Gordon Lightfoot by the name, of course, but after I heard him, I became a real fan. Still have cassette tapes of all his works.
I'd like to call him Cousin Gordon, but never could find a family connection to Canada.
Tom Lightfoot.
