It could just be that we are all busy elsewhere.
"She who must be obeyed" has us decorating rooms for when the family arrive at Christmas.
Doing our Sherpa Tensing impersonation carrying all the Christmas presents she has purchased. (I don't know half these folks!!)
Tidying up the garden and the garage before winter sets in. This is to keep away from the house so "Her Indoors" doesn't find us more work. (out of sight out of mind).
Servicing the car to see us through the winter.
Chopping logs.
Can't use the computer as she is searching for that right present for someone. Then eureka she finds it and off we drive to the shop.
"No darling, I'm not on that stamporama! Where are we going?"
Maybe start a controversial discussion about the leaders of our countries?
Your President is certainly beyond reproach (and I regret anything I may have said in past to upset fellow members). So obviously there is nothing there to spark interest.
But I could start by saying our (recently re-elected) Prime Minister is a rich trust-fund brat with a great haircut and a seeming lack of morals. Black-face pictures, leaving his seat in The House to physically pull back another MP he disagreed with while bashing into a female MP who got in his way, protecting his rich supporters at SNC Lavalin, his private Aga Khan paid vacations, claims to feminism then firing the two strongest female cabinet ministers, etc).
But if that's too jazzy, please just delete this post.
Or go with this...why are my Montreal Canadiens doing better this year?
Just being helpful, Dave.
Personally when it comes to canadian politics I was always remember fondly PET's alleged unparliamentary language of Fuddle Duddle and of course John Crosby referring to Sheila Copps as Pass the Tequila, Sheila more locally there is the peculiar instance of Governor Sanford whose passion for hiking the Appalachian trail lead to his resignation from official duties or for an international flavor recalling how Princess Elisabeth was relieved of her post as Foreign Minister for being too enthusiastic about discussing Ugandan affairs in the loo at Orly Airport

Oh, the agony of finding something jazzy on SOR!!!
Never mind Canadian politics try watching BBC Parliament (only if you want to return to the school playground)
Ooooooorrrrrrder!!!!
I do not need any advice from the member in the sedentary position!
It is actually quite interesting to watch the UK Parliment.
YYYiiipppeeee!!!!
At long last the weans in Parliament may actually vote for a General Election today!!

Power to the People!!!
The election result is a foregone conclusion; another hung Parliament. The folks opposing Brexit need to get their act together and do a fusion with other parties. Won't happen though.
No No No
The Brexit Party and the Conservatives must join to get Brexit DONE.
Donald Tusk of the EU has said that after the 31st of January there may be NO FURTHER EXTENSIONS!!
Well that was a fun day in UK's Parliament. So the new election may give the Monster Raving Looney Party a chance, Oh hang on they are there already.
Now who do I vote for and will it be too dark or bad, weather-wise, to venture out amongst the criminal element.
The last three years have been a fiasco, did none of the supposedly intelligent people working for the Government or their advisors foresee that NI/Ireland would be a problem that seems to have been swept under the carpet prior to the referendum.
Mods, if this is too political please delete, I will understand.
Northern Ireland is not the only one with a land border with the EU.
Gibraltar also has a land border with the EU.
When we leave the EU with a deal there is a transition period to enable people to get used to the new situation and to negotiate a Trade Deal with the EU, and the transition period can be extended if necessary.
You ain’t kidding about slow ... it’s slower than molasses in January here! No responses to my Happy Halloween post!
LoL maybe everyone is passed out from eating too much candy.
Right now I'm busy getting out of my chair answering the doorbell for the trick or treaters.
It's cold here tonight, traffic is down.
We only had about 35 trick or treaters this year. All time record was over a hundred and the all time low for the past ten years was twelve during one year. I tend to really look forward to the costumes and the age ranges which can vary from two years to late teens. Weather was actually really good, just cool (maybe about 40 or so) and dry but no wind.
No kids around here and was raining off and on all today. Thunderstorm and tornado warnings started around 7pm. Many area activities disrupted.
Over here in the Netherlands, there are frantic attempts to popularize halloween as a holiday. Part of the cocacolonization of the world in my opinion... So these days there are halloween parties, halloween markets and all kind of other halloween related events.
Traditionally children over here have a somewhat similar event, called Sint Maarten (Saint Martin), which is celebrated in the evening of 11 November. Children go from door to door with selfmade lanterns and sing special songs in exchange for candy or fruit.
As it has been somewhat slow around Stamporama lately, what items would members like to see scanned in and discussed? Would you like old threads to be bumped with new stuff, or completely new topics started? Looking for any new ideas to get the ball rolling again.
I would like to see more old registered covers, or old airmail covers, or old covers mailed onboard ships, and of course... more blocks or 4 or more are always liked by me.
Linus
The Saturday before Halloween my daughter's town's PTO sponsored a "Trunk or Treat", which is an alternative to children traipsing through the neighborhoods. A group of about 30 families all lined up their vehicles along a dirt road in the park, lifted their tailgates (as people now have SUVs instead of cars with trunks or boots for some of you). This went well, as the kids went from car to car all within the plan.
Then chaos ensued! Some people didn't get the concept, that you had to open your trunk and give treats! Suddenly the park was mobbed with people and their kids begging for treats. The poor families where overwhelmed. We quickly closed up and headed out. At 3pm when the event was supposed to be over, there were literally 100s of people headed into the park, obviously not contributing, since their cars were parked all out to the road.
Is it a slow time or perhaps just my impression there seems to be less activity on the board. Probably just me being hyper active ....
