I have a turn-bar binder for my Canada collection and think it works well. However, for my stock books, I just have the standard binder and it works well enough.
I am either going to be buying some pages or creating my own, and I was just wondering which binder treats these pages the best. I am sure both would be fine, but any feedback would be nice.

Regular 81/2 x11 3 ring binders are nice because so many different products fit those dimensions. Vario, Hagnar, page protectors etc. all standardize on that size. Cheaper in the long run.

I use three ring binders for my Canada collection. I have a couple cheap red binders, but am replacing them with the Canada branded Lighthouse binders. I print out my own pages and slip them in open-top page protectors. They love it in these red Lighthouse binders!

Those fancy binders with slip cases sure are luxurious- wish I could afford a shelf full!

What i love are the people with enough money to buy lighthouse albums from lighthouse who then find stamp collecting wasn't their thing. Personally my favorite is the old springback. Popping pages in and out is a piece of cake and it doesn't care how many holes the manufacturer thought was ideal. The turnbar seems to be the subject of general abuse because people stuff too many pages in the album then bust off the 5 cent solder. For general economy though the D 3 ring binder is the best option. From that starting point its a trade off of cost vs how upscale you want to look.

I had purchased a collection that came in a SAFE 14-ring binder - large heavy pages but small capacity.

I have MANY regular 8 1/2 x 11 3 ring 1" binders that I have purchased from Staples over the years. I've been wondering what to do with them. Tell me how many you want and I will Ship them to you in a box for the cost of Postage. They can be interleaved to save space.

Well! I have cheap 3-ring binders housing most of my collection. As for Canada, they get the royal treatment of Lighthouse binders with slipcases. Same with the USA, although just one needed for the USA. A second Canada will be purchased this week. I too wish I could afford the Lighthouse binders for all my collection. But they are pricey.
I love my Canada collection & want the best for it. Considering it will be just two, or maybe three binders, it's not that expensive.

I use D-ring binders that I get at Walmart for quite cheap;
they have front, rear and spine pockets, for which I make my own cover pages however I want.
D-rings binders are available from 1/2 inch up to 4 inch sizes.
And many have inside cover storage pockets as well.
I use black ones and insert white spine I.D. labels for a nice uniform look on the shelf.

I use almost exactly the same thing, Musicman, except I like White binders - Light and bright. Ditto for D ring with pockets and front and rear pockets - nice place to put a few pics or covers.

I am kind of hooked on the Staples D ring binders with color fabric..mainly 2 inchers, i tend to load a binder up and the plastic binders can only take so much abuse. A dealer who pays dues in our club purchased a huge collection..he had about 60 of the Staples with Steiner pages and stamps included..i purchased about 5 of them for 15 dollars apiece..but now i have to fill in the expensive stamps on the Steiner pages..i guess you pay one way or the other.

I use, for my odd ball collections, 3-ring binders from Amos, print my own pages from Steiner, use clear mounts from
Scott that I cut and mount on the pages to make very nice hingeless albums.

I just picked up a collection of mint stamps from the Ross Dependency. I see that lighthouse pages are available, but no binder.
I thought I saw one on some website, but I have been unable to find it since. I thought I saw it in a Davo deluxe album, but it isn't on their website.
I will probably buy the lighthouse pages and then choose a nice binder for them.
My other project is every stamp from 1970. I am going to design my own pages for this one, but I would also like to house this in a nice binder with slipcase.
However, like all things, budget will determine what I do.

Another vote for cheap 3 ring binders. Most of these came from Staples. I like the ones that allow me to insert my identification in a clear plastic sleeve edge. Why spend big money on supplies?

Expanding the concept tho - if you are housing in mounts - what is the combined cost of the mounts plus your album choice vs a hingeless option? Now if you are on hinges well i concede the point but otherwise ...

I use Vario G binders with slip cases but also have some We R Memory keeper binders. The nice thing about the e R Memory keeper binders is they stand up on a shelf without bookends needed etc.

Anyway,
I don't use any one method of mounting - I use many;
for my used US I use hinges unless the stamp is valued at $10 or above.
For my mint US I use Showgard mounts.
For my US revenues I use Showgard mounts - mint or used.
For my state and local and WW revenues I use Vario pages.
I also use Vario pages for numerous other albums as well.
