Don't get me excited like that, I thought you were talking about Lucy Lawless of Xena fame. I never missed an episode and now I have the complete set and watch prime episodes when the mood hits me. I was also a huge fan of Dianna Rigg (Avengers), Tia Carrere (Relic Hunter) and Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman). My wife could never really understand the attraction - the only good actress in the group was Dianna Rigg.
I'm with you on ALL that Harvey. Diana Rigg...oh the memories of her adventures in The Avengers.
With the dearth of quality, or interesting recent Western films and programs, I have followed a long and twisted trail of watching vids on you-tube. My interest in WWII from another perspective than I had grown up with, eventually led me to a large number of seemingly undiscovered in the West, Russian made movies and TV series.
I am, frankly, very much surprised at the quality of the writing, acting, filming, and the winter scenes are so much like home, with REAL snow....and lots of it.
I VERY strongly recommend 2 series: "The Dawns Here are Quiet", and "Spies".
Both can be found on you-tube, with English subtitles. Spies is available from StarMediadotCom, and the other, I can't recall where from. There is a 1972 movie version of The Dawns Here are Quiet which I haven't watched yet, but the recent 4 part series is REALLY, REALLY good. The Russian perspective of life before and during WWII, including the political viewpoints is fascinating, and heartrending.
I hope those of you who watch them enjoy them as much as I did.
One Russian show, though which I can't remember used postage stamps in the plot. The letter would inform the recipient resistance cell of key mission information, by having this stamp, or that, or...on the cover. Deviously Russian...LOL.
I remember watching Xena: Warrior Princess with Lucy Lawless as Xena with my daughter who was either three or four when we started watching it to my wife's consternation. We watched the show for several years until my daughter got older. The closest to it more recently for me have been the Wonder Woman movies with Gal Gadot in the title role. I like the combination of action and humor that both brought to screens.
