For some reason this reminds me of the conversation amongst younger folk who compare heights. Years back I reminded a disputing pair that it really didn't matter did it-their feet go down just as far as the other guy does.
Silly how odd thoughts creep in!!
Best,
Dan C.
(Afterthought-Tonym-I have socks older than you!!)
I suspect at 69 this year I will be pretty close to the middle. Mind you among the members of the British based Thailand Philatelic Society who live in Thailand at our lunches I am one of the youngest.
at 48, my guess is that I would be in the bottom quartile.
I thought I would be among the youngest at 50. Still you got me beat Ernie.
This may be the only group left where I feel "young-ish" at 52! LOL!
Love it!
Another odd thought-by engaging in interesting activities (sports, hobbies, passions of all sorts, etc.) by definition you are interesting/younger/vibrant. I would submit that SOR is keeping our members younger than their years, and engaged and focused in a hobby that knows no limits. I've been an active collector for over 80+ years and continue to be amazed at the new realms it exposes me to. Just saying!!
Best,
Dan C.
I respectfully take the 5th (of tequila).
At 50 I am still one of the youngest here :-)
PhilB- Better IT than ET, no?
(Silly stuff-Best,Dan)
I don't qualify for either category.
PhilB-ask the Mrs. Failing that, make many stashes-you're sure to find at least one of them.
Best,
Dan C.
I know I cant be the youngest, come on folks.
My wife says I probably qualify for the youngest with a mental age of about 5. Personally I think she fibs, it's at least 8.
On the better side of 60, my wife always says " I hear you coming home before you get home"
I have to laugh, my dad would tell me that he would stash money for a rainy day in the house and then forget all about it.
The other day he found $1000 that he had stashed.
Wow!
Now that's a good find!
I'm not quite there yet... maybe someday!
I still (FOR SURE!) remember where I put a $1000, LOL!
Now aged 67.
Still think I'm 25!
Body tells me otherwise, creak, groan, ache.
What's an "er butt"?
Dan C
Something you go to the hospital for?
Maybe a proctologist?
Just guess'in here...
JR
JR-I do believe you are on the right track-clearly a direction to take one's butt to the ER. Thanks for the clarification.
Dan C.
LOL!
For youngest how about Kira? She’s 13
Whoa, a 13 year old collector?
That's like seeing an endangered species, LOL!
Good to hear!
JR
Reading through this thread, I thought I was going to succeed at being the youngest so far at 46, but... Yeah for Kira!
And for all of us who are young of heart as well. Our hobby helps to keep us that way.
With respect and gratitude,
Dan C.
Dani, its something to do..very grateful for stamps and the internet and places like this to check in on. Todays problem is i was holding a stamp in my hand last night by the dining room table and it vanished off the face of the earth..i mean it was not a minimum value stamp it cataloged $3.75..i will probably tear the place apart today.
My buddy, Phil B. from New York State is over eighty.... but he acts like he's still 35! He's a lot of fun at stamp shows, and a great mentor. I nominate Phil as the youngest member of SOR.

I am just the oldest and youngest stamp collector in my house.
While Kira is not an official member of Stamporama, I think it fair to say that the members have adopted her as an honorary member!
No reason here, other than curiosity -
I wonder who is our oldest and youngest members?
I know that, for a while, Richaard was our oldest member, I believe...(still remember him fondly)
But since his passing from us, I wonder if there is someone comparable to his age?
As I said, just wonderin'.....
