Funny the thoughts you get when you are a pretty senior senior citizen. Perhaps its natural to think back on the magic days of childhood. My mothers sister Pauline(they were from Brooklyn) met a G.I. from a tiny town in Vermont during the war and after the war they married. A small town Vermonter my Uncle Norman pretty much did what he wanted, paint houses, run a garage, go snowshoeing..before you know it my Big city aunt was a person of influence ..Insurance Agent and Realtor. I guess my aunt got lonely because she would invite my sister and myself up during the summer. What times we had along the Vermont,Massachusetts border...the 4 of July was crazy..i thought they were going to burn the whole town down with the bonfire. Hmm the thoughts that come back now.

I remember my first bonfire. Everyone in our neighborhood got together on New Years and brought their Christmas trees to the park next door and we set them all on fire.

Smauggie, i was always drawn to characters..and everyone in a town of 700 souls is a character...you meet them once exchange names and they know you . My aunt was Pauline..no need for a last name in a town that size.
