Hello and Welcome Dave,
That's the fun part about collecting --collecting what you want and like. Great site here.
Enjoy.

LoL
I was looking at threads, and saw this one, and the title makes it sound like I live in South Carolina upon a glance!
I live in Pensacola Florida.
ratio411... Hello Dave, nice to see you here.
Welcome to SOR Dave, enjoy your time here.
Mike
Welcome! Glad you are finding a lot of interest in stamps. I know what you mean about the UN stamps; I have a ton of UN stamps, covers, commemorative cards, and even postal stationery but it rarely moves in my bidStart store, and I've now pulled them. Same with Vatican issues.
This is a good place; watch out for that blue dude though! (nah, he's harmless ... unless someone sells bogus stuff!)
Cheers,
Peter
Hi Dave,
Glad you're here.
Hi Dave, Welcome aboard.
"I was looking at threads, and saw this one, and the title makes it sound like I live in South Carolina upon a glance! "
Welcome, Dave. I'm sure you'll enjoy SOR!
I too collect US covers--mostly from my home area (CT Western Reserve--i.e. Northeastern Ohio); my spouse's home (Niagara County, NY) and her father's home (Jefferson County, NY). Lots of fun. Stamps are pretty much worldwide up to about 1940 altho' I do have a lot after 1940--I just don't seek them out. Oh, all right, I'll fess up: I have trouble saying no to anything that grabs my fancy!
Roger
Welcome, Dave. I hope you have many fun interactions and trades through this stamp club.
Like you, I inherited my collection. Years after my father in law passed, my mother in law gave my husband and me his stamp collection. Boxes and boxes and boxes. I'm still trying to get organized and have added more. It isn't rational, but I find much enjoyment in spending time with all these common and rarer treasures.
Welcome.
Welcome Dave, from a fellow Floridian!
I have met a number of FL residents here.

Welcome to SOR Dave.
WELCOME DAVE
My name is Dave.
My father collected stamps all his life.
He never shared stamp collecting with me, but my grandfather got me into coin collecting, so that became my "thing".
In 2008, my father passed, and his stamp collection now resides with me.
I quickly ended up looking for stamp knowledge online, and the busiest site I found was SCF, and I have been there since. I have learned much, but have much more to learn.
Many of you will know me from SCF, but if you don't, and are unaware, there was an issue at SCF with an admin taking out frustrations on the entire community, and this inspired me to look for another stamp site. One of the members there turned me on to SoR, so here I am.
I collect anything U.S.
I love old cover, crash cover, or anything that oozes history.
My postage albums are complete between about 1930ish to 1998ish.
I have decided not to collect anything after 2000.
As for pre-1930, I am pretty much filling holes with used, and then will upgrade anytime the chance comes up. I got a LONG way to go.
Dad left me quite a few early 'Ducks', so adding to those is a secondary interest that I do when they come available. I don't really actively seek them out.
I have also limited my collection to postage, and just the very basic BoBs. I have decided to opt out of some areas, like revenues for example. I just know if I don't set some boundaries, I won't ever focus on anything. Just filling my postage albums from 1847 to 2000 is going to be hard enough, and unlikely in my lifetime, so too many distractions makes it that much harder.
I have world stamps, but don't collect them. They just sorta 'happened', and I have used many for trading material to people that would appreciate them.
The only world I keep is the Disney topical album Dad put together for my daughter.
I have a huge UN collection, Dad grew up in a time where that was popular... I don't like the UN stuff, I don't like the UN, but I have come to find that the stuff has no value to anyone anymore... So it's just sorta there, in limbo, as I would never throw it away or give it away.
Anyway, I am going on and on...
Thanks for having me!
See ya in the forums.
Dave
