I plan my holidays around stamp shows.
In 2010, I spent a week in London especially for the Greatest show on earth.
So around 2,000 miles at a guess !

My wife and I went to the huge show in San Francisco in 1997, which is about 3,000 miles from Florida.

No more than 40 miles. The Twin Cities hosts a number of shows a year including a recurring show every month. I haven't had the desire to go further afield as of yet.
Went from Poughkeepsie, NY to Philadelphia for INTERPHIL '76, and from Syracuse, NY to Toronto for CAPEX '78. All other shows I have gone to have been within 100 miles of where I lived.
There are those I know who would say "Not far enough" as I have always returned home....

Our Daughter and Son-in-Law live in San Francisco and had a new baby recently. Naturally the Grandparents (Us!)wanted to visit several times to see our Grandson. The Grandfather (Me!) made sure one of those 1000 mile round trips from Oregon was the same weekend as Westpex.
An afternoon away was hardly noticed.
Worked well for all parties concerned.
Northern New Jersey to Washington DC for World Stamp Expo in 1989.
Bob
New York City to Columbus,Ohio for APS StamShow in 2011.
I am looking forward to driving to St. Louis, MO next year for the ATA National Topical Stamp Show! Ten months but who is counting!
I've never had the pleasure, but plan on going at the end of this September. Long Beach (Ca.) Coin and Stamp Expo, about 25 miles away
Ottawa, Ont. to New York City for the MegaStamp Event!
David
Well i could cheat a bit and say 1400 miles to Biloxi Ms. but we were going to my Dads place in Bradenton Fl. so it was only a 700 mile detour..and my wife got to see Mardi Gras in New Orleans and then i got the hell out !!
I'm so ticked off! I didn't check to see if there were any stamp shows in Vancouver before booking my flight. I arrive in the evening of September 21 and a friend told me of this:
VANPEX 2013, the annual stamp exhibition of the BC Philatelic Society, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20/21 West Burnaby United Church, 6050 Sussex Avenue, in Burnaby, BC
Ugh. That would be almost 2800 miles to go to a stamp show!
Cheers,
Peter
Peter, We were in Vancouver years back...i found 3 brick and mortar stamp dealers...do not know what the situation is now..Great place..the city, water, mountains. My wife has family in the flower auctions there !
Vancouver is my home town, so I'm terribly prejudiced when I say that it is the most beautiful city in North America (San Francisco is a close second). When I left in the 1980s there were a couple of stamp stores, not the mall type store but "real" stores, but I think there's only one left. But in the old days, you could find philatelic gems in ethnic stores along Robson Street; I got many of my used USSR stamps from a Russian store that sold newspapers, postcards, etc. and all I had to do was ask if they had any old envelopes that I could buy. Similarly, with a Greek store.
Back to the post though, aside from this lost opportunity to go 2700 miles to a stamp show, the furthest I'd ever gone is from Atlanta to Savannah for a local club meeting and show. That's about a 2 hour drive.
Cheers,
Peter
You don't have to be specific on the milage. Just curious how far anyone has travelled to go to a stamp show.
For me I live in Hamilton Ontario, and I've been to Fredricton New Brunswick, Earl's Court in London England, and Edmonton Alberta in
