Have you been weighed in the balance and found wanting?
John Derry
P.S. A neat addition for weighing kiloware. Congratulations on this fine acquisition.
Do you have something similar that used to be used in hospital delivery rooms to
weigh newborn? Have you one of those oversize diapers that storks use to deliver
babies? How about posting an image of your most unusual weigh scale.
Clayton - I am not sure I see the Topical nature in the scale unless you are hoarding them????
Clayton I was thinking about you when I was at a local auction. They had a Detroit Computer scale. I have heard of Toledo scales but never a Detroit Scale. I think the thing tipped the scales at nearly 50lbs.
Scales are just one of the types of ephemera that make interesting additions to ones collecting. I have several (but none as truly antique as any of Clayton's). Some day I need to photograph them & post the pics. Another type of ephemera I have picked up here & there are the little stamp boxes--a couple are ceramic, one is cloisonne. Not lots of money being spent on these things, but, I guess that I'm an inveterate collector/accumulator that lets his interests range far & wide. Keeps the blood flowing to the brain....
Roger
Roger - Could you post a photo of your stamp boxes? I'm not sure what they are, but they sound interesting.....thanks, Sally
A number of my Antique Scales are "Postal Related."
Do the postal-related scales still provide accurate measurements?
One of my two most recent purchases
And... Here's my secon recent purchase
These two pocket scales were given to me by my kids, for Christmas
4+ Cent/7+ Cents AirLetters

Clayton,
Those are very nice. Didn't know such things existed. Thanks for posting the photo.
Sally
This was another antique scale I received as a Christmas Gift
Clayton,
Are there antique postal scale catalogs? Is there a known quantity of scales? Just wondering as the photos you provide show a wide range of models and designs. Pretty neat.
Sally
Sally, If there is a catalog of antique scales for sale, I am not aware of it. I buy antique scales through ebay mostly. Some as I've mentioned here have been gifts. I am interested in a wide variety of scales, several are postal. Currently obtaining smaller ones and as room may permit will begin acquiring larger ones.
Clayton
My father-in-law raised chickens & sold eggs, so my wife has more than a passing knowledge of the last scale you posted. She loved the chickens and sizing the eggs, but doesn't want one of the scales around. (Maybe my collection of postal scales has her 'scale meter' pegged out.)
Roger
Waiting to receive this most recent scale I purchased this past week. It will hang in my kitchen over the sink.
