These forgeries of the Navigation and Commerce series are very plentiful. If you have not already done so, you really should go over your French colonies and screen for these fakes.
I had seen Jere's exhibit before at the Canton show. It was great. I kind of knew about these fakes but had no idea as to the enormity of the problem, largely, because I only collect used and the majority of these forgeries you encounter are unused. It is truly a must read for any world wide collector and candy for the French Colonies specialist. For its importance perhaps it should be featured in the "Selected Articles" red box on our home page. (As far as candy goes, Jere's other exhibit that I am familiar with, on the Dahomey "Man-climbing-palm-tree" stamp, beats it yet, in my opinion).
I noticed that as of now Jere's exhibit cannot be located using the article look-up page. So I wanted to bring this link to the front once more.
Thanks again for sharing, Jere!

Thanks for the kind words Arno. It is amazing how wide spread these forgeries are in just about any collection. I am going to scan the Dahomey exhibit as well. Have some new material to put in, but that will have to wait for a bit. Have really enjoyed creating these and have a couple more in infancy...of course in the french colony topic
Very nice work Jere ! If you can use more Commerce and Navigations i have a few dupes lying around. I have a modest fake and forgery area in my Guatemala album,i enjoy them more than the "real" ones ! phil

Hi Everyone,
We have a new exhibit in our Exhibits area, created by Jere Dutt. In this exhibit Jere looks at the forgeries of Francois Fournier using the French colony Navigation and Commerce issues. Click here to view Jere's exhibit.
Regards ... Tim.
