Hello all!

After two moves, a new marriage to a beautiful woman, and a new baby, I've decided to dust off the ol' albums and stockbooks. It's time to get busy sorting and mounting some material. My wife asked me the other day, why don't we stop and get covers and stamps at the places we visit? I love her support of this slightly obsessive hobbyHypnotized Now if I can keep the little guy from eating my stamps, before I show him proper use of tongs!Big Grin

I figured I would reintroduce myself after lurking for a week. I just realized that I'm coming up on 25 years in the APS. I thought I would be further along in my collections by this point. College funds and diapers trump completing my Columbians and Finland Serpentines...Oh well, it's not a race!

My interests continue exactly where I left them - US, general WW covers, cancel studies, and worldwide to 1940 with an emphasis on Great Britain and Scandinavia. I found that I cannot limit myself. I even go for some of the new "stickers" that the USPS is pumping out.

I'm forever interested in looking at album collections and how others do it. I'm collecting in 3 ring binders with modified Steiner pages and Vario stock sheets. Once I get my large accumulation and stripped collections under control, I will be participating in the approvals and auctions. This is a wonderful resource. Thank you all for making it a safe online spot to talk stamps.

I look forward to the stamp fellowship in years to come.

Cheers,

Don

seems like you've got tongs on the mind and he's got tongue.

Nice to have a supportive spouse; mine is basically bored EXCEPT when looking at the correspondence; there, she's intrigued.

Speaking of my supportive spouse:

I found her leafing through my fancy cancel and old advertising covers and removing a few..."These would make a great art project if scanned and transferred to canvas..."

Now I need to find where she's relocated my St. Louis Shields! I do love this woman.

Welcome, Don, on your return to SOR.

You comments reminded me of a cartoon I saw in the American Stamp Dealer & Collector magazine(which I recommend!) of a wife grabbing the tongs out of her husband's hands and tells him she will bring them right back-right after she finished plucking her eyebrows!Surprise

Fortunately for me I have a very understanding wife--who has a small collection of birds and flowers on stamps. Applause

HAHA. That about sums it up. Btw, I have all but a few issues of ASD&C (I have #83 right here beside me). I've been pulling a few of those FDC's out that I collected back in the day. My wife loves them and asked why I don't have more of those? I don't think my fancy cancel collection on the 3 cent green is as appealing!
