I'll go with Election Day (in the USA), November 4, 2014. As for the seller, how about Mr. Ratliff (Stampfire).
I am thinking November 5th and it's going to be BOTTOM_FISH_2006. I'm just feeling lucky.
Stan
Where do we find those stats?
My guesses are:
October 28th / Grorod
Fun!!! My guess is Veteran's Day November 11th.
Aha!!! Bobby says we have to be the FIRST person to pick someone so I pick, ummmmm, rrraphy!!!
"Where do we find those stats?"
November 15th 2014 ...John 9913
"Is it 1 million lots sold or 1 million lots listed?"
This is exciting news!!! There are so many great people on this site, buyers, sellers and all the great support folks who have made this possible. My guess is Nov. 10. And for the seller I hope it will be Patches.
Gro
November 7 seller will be philatelia
LOL! Even on the fun posts many members do not comprehend what they read and respond without thinking. Tim specifically states that the contest winners will be "the first person who guesses on this thread, what the date will be when we reach the one millionth lot" and "the first person who guesses which seller posts the 1 millionth lot." So all of you who selected a date or person who had been selected by someone above you in the list lose before you even begin! This is all in fun, but I do want everyone to have a chance of winning - so read your response and the responses of others, and if you selected an answer which had been previously selected, change your response. Sheesh - unless English is not your first language...
I'll donate an uncut pane from the Batman Press Sheet as a prize to the winners. (One for each winner)
But if I win, Bobby has to buy us dinner because he got me to change my guess. Tee hee hee nyuk nyuk!!!!!!!

That is why lawyers have insisted that manufacturers include warnings in product disclaimers like the one with the hair dryer that reminds the user;
Not for use in shower.
...or like instructions on the bottom of a box, and it says, "Do not turn the box over."!
The last page of each Consumer Reports magazine is always fun to read with such feaux pas.
That's Bobby's lawyer side showing for sure.
Charlie - so did you learn the lesson by reading the box on the hair dryer or after you saw stars by standing in the shower and drying your hair?
Michael - for sure. Love those boxes that say Fragile, This Side Up! And you're reading those words upside down as the delivery man brings you your precious purchase.
Instructions with a telephone we bought (seriously):
1. Pick up handset
2. Dial number
3. Talk
4. Hang up
When Susan and I moved from Ottawa to Vancouver in January, 1970, we travelled by train. Our sheltie, Shelley, had to stay in a kennel in a boxcar. Whenever we stopped for a few minutes, I'd go to check on her, let her out to pee (which she didn't, all the way to Vancouver!), make sure she had water, etc.
The boxcar was "heated" by a wood burning pot-bellied stove at one end. Shelley's kennel was at the opposite end. Her water was always frozen when I checked it. At one stop, there was a pile of cartons next to her kennel, with this warning on each box: "Caution! Medical products. DO NOT FREEZE!"
Bob
There are still lots of sellers that no one has guessed - ditto for dates. Don't miss out on the prizes - cash and Batman imperfs! Sooooooooo let's see more guesses!!!
And, I think it would be more fun if one of the Batman sheets could go to the BUYER of the 1,000,000th lot and one to the SELLER. Would that be OK with everyone???
If you're the one providing the prizes, then it's up to you to decide how to disperse them. Whatever floats your boat, Chick.
Yeah the ball is in my court so I get to make the rules so to speak. OK - the Batman sheets will go to the buyer and seller of lot number 1,000,000. If I am either of those people, the sheet will go to the person who guessed the correct date. If NO ONE correctly guesses the seller I'll put the sheet in the auction and the proceeds will go to Stamporama.
So let's get some more guesses in here! Fun stuff!
Don't forget about our 1 million lots contest!
Be the FIRST person to correctly guess the date and/or the seller and win a prize and the admiration and adulation of your peers. There are still lots of dates and sellers that have not been picked, so join the fun!
My guess is December 23 and seller will be SeawayMa.
I'll pick November 22nd, my birthday, if no one else has chosen it already, and the lucky seller will be Grorod.
Charlie
cdj1122
My guess will be January 4, 2015 - seller Grorod
Mike
Reminder - if you want to win the prizes, you need to pick a seller or date that no one else has picked. There are lots of sellers that no one has picked!
My guess is January 24, 2014 and Octjun for the seller.
I'm bumping this to the top---- don't forget to guess! Lots of sellers haven't been picked! Let's get some folks to pick them and don't forget to guess the day. Thanks for playing!!!!
Guesses in BOLD are repeats - only the first guess can be a winner, so go ahead and change your guess if someone picked it first.

@Doug I think you mean HIARGIUS
@Theresa Whenever you get tired of hubby, please come to Maine and organize my life! Thanks so much for compiling the list!
LOL thanks Bobby, I think? I thought a compiled list might make it easier to pick a day and seller.
I corrected the spelling for Hiargius and probably added a few typos of my own.

Is there a cutoff for submitting a guess, or updating a previous guess (can you do that?). Maybe we should set a cutoff so that anyone wishing to update his earlier guess can do it, and then we close the contest? Then we are all in the same boat.
rrr...
How about you can only change your guess if you did not notice that someone else had guessed the same earlier. And you can only change the part that is a duplicate guess.
And only one guess per member. You can guess as many times as you want, but only your first guess will count towards the prizes.
Sound fair?

Philatelia added; OK - the Batman sheets will go to the buyer and seller of lot number 1,000,000. If I am either of those people, the sheet will go to the person who guessed the correct date. If NO ONE correctly guesses the date I'll put the sheet in the auction and the proceeds will go to Stamporama.
Same date - michael78651
Thanks for the head's up.
Ok I will say

Head's up Tuscany4me, cdj1122, CapeStampMan, 2010ccg, and Bulldog - your seller guesses are repeats - only the first guess can be a winner, so go ahead and change your guess if someone picked it first.

I would like to change my choice of seller to Doodles, if I may!
Mike
Since my date has come and gone, I would like to select another date, January 12, 2015. If anyone objects, I'll withdraw my request. I'll keep my original choice of Seller.
If no one objects to the second choice of dates, I'll change mine, too. How does everyone feel about that? I think I'll make a notation that they are second guessers LOL.
You can just do it like this to show that the chosen date was unsuccessful:

what prize might we give to the person who correctly identifies the number of people who change their guesses /// perhaps a set of personalized stamps from Alvin's collection?
The prize for the person who changes their guesses the most ---- hmmm some sort of ignoble award? I think Bobby and I are tied for first in that category LOL
Theresa,
When you cut and paste your own posts, you can select the "edit" feature on the old post, then highlight and copy the portion of the post you want to duplicate. This way, when you paste, all the tags (codes) are there and you do not have to go back and do them again.
Bobby
Aha!!! Thank you, clever Bobby!!! Super appreciate that lil tip!
Well I'm changing my guess to January 23, 2015 and keeping bottom_fish_2006. Maybe I'll get lucky!
Changing mine to January 2. Things are really hot in approvals!

Just to clarify - approvals are included in the 1,000,000 lots sold. If you go and buy an approval lot right now, that lot will be given a number and that is probably the quickest way to get a really recent count, too!
just bought an approval - number 978537!!!
Okay then I will change my date to January 5th
OK, I will change my date to December 8th, hoping that we will continue to sell at a rate of 1,000 items per day.
I will try to accelerate things by adding some new approval books. I have received a lot of interesting new material that will find its way to the approvals really soon

May I change my seller to Midge? Date is still Dec 24th
Less than 1000 to go!! Today or tomorrow maybe???
Just posted lot #999159! It will be a matter of hours, perhaps one day...
This is confusing to me. The 1,000,000 lot listed will be the lot numbered 1,000,000.
Just because there have been 1,000,000 lots listed, not every one of those lots will have sold, so in fact when lot #1,000,00 has been posted it does not mean we have SOLD one million lots.

You have to go back to Tim's original announcement:
"...the date will be when we reach the one millionth lot (as seen in the Auction, New Items screen)..."
"...If the 1 millions lots actual turns out to be an Approvals Lots Sold, I'll announce it here who was the seller for the 1 millionth lot..."
"Despite the confusion, however, ya' gotta admit this has been fun!Big Grin"
Can I sat that the buyer will be CP Connway....
Bingo!
David13617 just bought item #1,000,000 from me. A Swiss semipostal.
Congratulations Jan Simon!!!!
Gro
Congrats to both of you!!!!!!!!!!
I'll mail your Batman sheets right away.
Jere Dutt picked the correct day and David13517 picked you to be the seller - no wonder he was buying from you!!! LOL clever fella! So they win the other prizes.
Also a BIG Congrats to all the other buyers and sellers who participate and work so hard to make the Stamporama auction and approvals so much fun! Everyone pat yourself on the back!
Thanks for your listings Jan Simon. You put in a lot of effort in creating all those approval books!
David
Way to go Jan-Simon and a good pick up for you David. Congratulations to both of you!
Mike
Congratulations to the both of you!
Now on to 2 million!
Congratulations to Jan-Simon (Siem) for being our winning seller, Jere (jeredutt3) for picking the correct date we reached 1,000,000 lots or approval items, and David (david13617) for picking the lucky seller. Well done everyone. I've really enjoyed this. The prized will be in the mail tomorrow.
I do have to say that this is a great milestone for Stamporama. When we implemented the current Auction we had about 200 lots in the Auction at any one time, and most of them were from Patches. We have come a long way over the last few years, and I am pleased to say that Patches is still one of our leading sellers.
Another milestone that should be noted is that we ticked over 3,000 Approval Books this last week. As it turns out the 3,000th Approval Book was posted almost right on the first anniversary of the launching of the Approval Books.
Thank you everyone !!! I very much enjoy sharing our hobby with you all.
Best regards ... Tim.
Many thanks to you Tim, the other Volunteer Committee members and the general membership for making all of this possible.
We've come a long way since I joined Stamporama so many years ago.
Liz
This was a great milestone!!! Thank you to one and all who make Stamporama such a great place to visit. The support staff is amazing. We have great stamp collectors and sellers. So on to the next million lots!!!!

A great group of stamping friends MERRY CHRISTMAS
hurray ! That was fun ! thx to the those who put it on and those who participated.
Most of all, thanks to those who make stamporama possible. My favorite stamping site for sure. Auctions are great, discussions are informative and people are awesome !
Look forward to 1 mil more ! and may more topics !
Jere
Kudos to the winners and to Stamporama
Fully intended to get in on the action but As I was getting ready to list stuff, somehow I got a pinched nerve in my neck. congrats to all winners. Sorry, Bobby.
Are we going for the 1.5 million now? From the way it's going, that shouldn't be far off.
Hi Tim,
I received your check for $50 for the contest. Thank you for sponsoring the contest, it was fun and drew a lot of interest! Being inspired by Liz's comments on helping in the local community I have donated this amount plus a matching amount to the Truckee Community Christmas which helps with food and logistics for those less fortunate in our area.
And thank you to all the volunteers at StampoRama. You have put in a lot of time and effort and created a super website. The discussion area has been most helpful and the Auction and Approvals sections are well thought out and managed. Looking forward to reaching the 2 million milestone.
To all at StampoRama, wishing you and your families a Merry Christmas and very prosperous New Year,
David
Thanks David, an excellent use of the money. Thanks for participating.
Regards ... Tim.
I don't know if anyone else has been watching, but we are getting very close to the 1 million Auction Lots mark (sold Approval Items are included in this count also). So I thought that we should have a bit of fun with this. I will offer a US$20 price for the first person who guesses on this thread, what the date will be when we reach the one millionth lot (as seen in the Auction, New Items screen). Secondly, I offer a US$50 price for the first person who guesses which seller posts the 1 millionth lot, as seen on the Auction, All New Items screen. If the 1 millions lots actual turns out to be an Approvals Lots Sold, I'll announce it here who was the seller for the 1 millionth lot. Oh, by the way, you can't guess that you will be the 1 millionth lot seller. It must be someone else.
So, let's have some fun with this.
Tim.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
I'll go with Election Day (in the USA), November 4, 2014. As for the seller, how about Mr. Ratliff (Stampfire).
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
I am thinking November 5th and it's going to be BOTTOM_FISH_2006. I'm just feeling lucky.

This is exciting news!!! There are so many great people on this site, buyers, sellers and all the great support folks who have made this possible. My guess is Nov. 10. And for the seller I hope it will be Patches.

re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
November 7 seller will be philatelia
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Sheesh - unless English is not your first language...
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
I'll donate an uncut pane from the Batman Press Sheet as a prize to the winners. (One for each winner)
But if I win, Bobby has to buy us dinner because he got me to change my guess. Tee hee hee nyuk nyuk!!!!!!!

That is why lawyers have insisted that manufacturers include warnings in product disclaimers like the one with the hair dryer that reminds the user;
Not for use in shower.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
...or like instructions on the bottom of a box, and it says, "Do not turn the box over."!
The last page of each Consumer Reports magazine is always fun to read with such feaux pas.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
That's Bobby's lawyer side showing for sure.
Charlie - so did you learn the lesson by reading the box on the hair dryer or after you saw stars by standing in the shower and drying your hair?
Michael - for sure. Love those boxes that say Fragile, This Side Up! And you're reading those words upside down as the delivery man brings you your precious purchase.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
DO NOT FREEZE!"

re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Would that be OK with everyone???
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
If you're the one providing the prizes, then it's up to you to decide how to disperse them. Whatever floats your boat, Chick.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Fun stuff!
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Don't forget about our 1 million lots contest!
Be the FIRST person to correctly guess the date and/or the seller and win a prize and the admiration and adulation of your peers. There are still lots of dates and sellers that have not been picked, so join the fun!
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
My guess is December 23 and seller will be SeawayMa.

I'll pick November 22nd, my birthday, if no one else has chosen it already, and the lucky seller will be Grorod.

My guess is January 24, 2014 and Octjun for the seller.

Is there a cutoff for submitting a guess, or updating a previous guess (can you do that?). Maybe we should set a cutoff so that anyone wishing to update his earlier guess can do it, and then we close the contest? Then we are all in the same boat.
rrr...
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
How about you can only change your guess if you did not notice that someone else had guessed the same earlier. And you can only change the part that is a duplicate guess.
And only one guess per member. You can guess as many times as you want, but only your first guess will count towards the prizes.
Sound fair?

As of today, November 6th, we are at apx. 959069. Wow that is over 4,000 more than the last update! At that rate who will win??? If you haven't pick the day yet, that should give you some numbers to crunch. And many sellers haven't been picked yet! Thanks for playing!!!!
Head's up Tuscany4me, Poodle_Mum, cdj1122, CapeStampMan, 2010ccg, Bulldog, and Doodles69ca - your seller guesses are repeats - only the first guess can be a winner, so go ahead and change your guess if someone picked it first.

Since my date has come and gone, I would like to select another date, January 12, 2015. If anyone objects, I'll withdraw my request. I'll keep my original choice of Seller.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
If no one objects to the second choice of dates, I'll change mine, too. How does everyone feel about that? I think I'll make a notation that they are second guessers LOL.

what prize might we give to the person who correctly identifies the number of people who change their guesses /// perhaps a set of personalized stamps from Alvin's collection?
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
The prize for the person who changes their guesses the most ---- hmmm some sort of ignoble award? I think Bobby and I are tied for first in that category LOL
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Theresa,
When you cut and paste your own posts, you can select the "edit" feature on the old post, then highlight and copy the portion of the post you want to duplicate. This way, when you paste, all the tags (codes) are there and you do not have to go back and do them again.

Just to clarify - approvals are included in the 1,000,000 lots sold. If you go and buy an approval lot right now, that lot will be given a number and that is probably the quickest way to get a really recent count, too!
just bought an approval - number 978537!!!

Tim wrote; I will offer a US$20 price for the first person who guesses on this thread, what the date will be when we reach the one millionth lot (as seen in the Auction, New Items screen). Surprise It must be someone else.

May I change my seller to Midge? Date is still Dec 24th

Less than 1000 to go!! Today or tomorrow maybe???
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Just posted lot #999159! It will be a matter of hours, perhaps one day...
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!

Congratulations to the both of you!
Now on to 2 million!
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Tim.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Many thanks to you Tim, the other Volunteer Committee members and the general membership for making all of this possible.
We've come a long way since I joined Stamporama so many years ago.

re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Are we going for the 1.5 million now? From the way it's going, that shouldn't be far off.
re: Over 1 million Auction Lots and Approval Items have been posted to Stamporama!
Hi Tim,
I received your check for $50 for the contest.
To all at StampoRama, wishing you and your families a Merry Christmas and very prosperous New Year,
David
